CPI Security has been in the industry for more than 25 years. The company was founded in 1991 in North Carolina. It is licensed to service the areas of North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, Maryland, Alabama and Florida.

Its edge over its competitors is the capability to design and install its security innovations. CPI is known for its inTouch platform, an innovation to keep you connected to your home wherever you may be. The platform provides real-time knowledge with remote interactive services.

CPI is proud to say that it is a first in this in the security services industry. The company claims leadership in customized security and home automation solutions. In the Southeast, it is proud to be the leading security company.

The installation is done by its expertly-trained full-time employees and not outsourced. The company ensures quality and consistent installation with this.

Cost-wise, CPI pricing is on the mid-range when compared to other providers. The free installation it offers makes them more affordable regarding upfront costs. The company has not received any complaints regarding its service network.

Plan Pricing And Services

When it comes to prices, CPI Security Systems is a bit aloof at sharing how much its services cost. Oftentimes, interested clients would need to get an approved credit rating before they can receive a quote from the company.

With CPI, you don’t have to pay extra for mobile app access. Thus, you can turn your home into a smart home with CPI’s inTouch system.

The company offers innovative voice control automation. You can command Alexa to perform certain functions, or you can ask about the status of your smart devices. You can arm your system, lock your door, change the thermostat, close the garage door, and more, but you cannot ask Alexa to disarm the system, unlock the door or open the garage.

CPI’s Service Plus Service provides free replacement of parts and installation due to normal wear-and-tear or equipment malfunctions. It also provides free quality control inspection upon the request of the customer, or when there’s an attempted burglary or a fire emergency.

The company has a 1-year limited warranty for parts and labor of equipment such as video cameras, routers, video servers, thermostats, lamp or appliance modules, or any equipment offered in either the video or energy management lines. It also has a No False Alarm Guarantee.

While the “No False Alarm” guarantee offered by CPI Security may be considered advantageous to CPI Security’s clients, it can also be misleading. It’s true that the company will compensate its clients for any false alarms caused by an error on CPI’s part. However, it won’t compensate false alarms caused by user error.

Furthermore, the “No False Alarm” guarantee does not assure clients that false alarms would be non-existent in CPI Security Systems, which it is often misunderstood.

The company offers a 24-Hour Customer Care and a quick alarm response. Alarms are monitored the company’s regional Southeast Headquarters Alarm. It responds in seconds, not minutes. When an alarm triggered, the system will know what kind of alarm it is and dispatch the appropriate responders to your home or business.

At present, CPI provides all packages with 7 Door/Window Sensors for a limited time for new residential customers only. For packages with the keyless door lock, the services of a locksmith may be needed.

Though it is offering free installation, it is not applicable if you don’t own the house. If you are renting, you have to pay the installation charge amounting to $299

Top Tips For Buyers

Read the fine print! That’s what every buyer of services should do. This is to ensure that should you encounter problems with the services; the contract can protect you.

Do not be swayed or pressured by sweet-talking or aggressive sales agents. Make sure you understand what you’re getting, and that all the terms have been properly explained to you.

The company has a Refer a Friend Program. Every referral you make, you will receive a free month of monitoring. However, only one monitoring per household, per month is allowed with a maximum credit of $54.99 per month, per account.

Cancellation and Transfer Policies

If you want to cancel the contract, you may be charged a default fee equivalent to 75% of the remaining agreed periods.

When transferring to an area with CPI services, the company will install the security system based on the promotional offering at the time. Additional equipment may be purchased when needed. Expect also to pay an additional fee if you have not completed the 24 months required.

If you’re planning to relocate and want to take your security systems with you, there are certain conditions to do this:

  • For customers under the initial monitoring agreement prior to July 2018, they would be able to install a new security system in their new home by way of the CPI Smart Pay. A one-time transfer fee may be charged for those who have satisfied less than 24 months of their agreement. Customers who have satisfied 24 months and more may not be forced to pay any penalty fees.
  • For those under the CPI Smart Pay agreement, they would need to pay their outstanding balance before they can install a security system in their new homes.
  • For those who are under the Month-to-Month monitoring agreement, they may be able to sign up for a new system without incurring any additional fees.
  • Customers who have already paid off their equipment may be able to take the devices to their new home provided that it is still within the coverage area of CPI Security Systems.

When transferring to an area without CPI services, you have to pay the same amount for the cancellation of the contract. However, if the new homeowners of the residence signs with the company, you won’t have to pay anything.
